JohnMark Brubaker is Evergreen’s new-school old-school barber — the kind who learned that a haircut is a craft, not a transaction, and never let it go. You’ll find his chair inside Raven Rock Armory on U.S. Hwy 2 E, behind a door that carries the crest.
The hot-towel ritual is the house specialty. Towels hot enough to mean it, lather worked in by hand, and a straight razor moving with the kind of calm that only comes from repetition. It takes longer than a quick buzz. That’s the point.
Why cash? Because it keeps things simple, and simple is how the shop runs. Walk-ins are welcome when the chair sits empty. Kids leave with a good cut and their dignity intact. And there’s always a beverage on the house while you wait — the chair may be brutal, but the hospitality isn’t.
